Returning photographer Mike Wheeler closes our photography week with his image, “The Memory Tree.” He talks about the photo in his caption below.
When I made this photograph, I was thinking about what an ordinary image can carry beyond its surface beauty. I approached it from that perspective—allowing the scene to exist as it was. For me, photography becomes powerful in its ability to preserve a moment while holding both the past and present within a single frame. The branches reach and pause against the sky, suggesting time passing, turning something simple into an archive of memory and continuity.

Beautiful photograph. Nature provides such incredible moments and sometimes you have to look up and see its artwork.
