A week of photography begins today with work by previous contributor Maroula Blades. She talks about her images below.
I took this image in December 2021 on the grounds of Schloss Marquardt; it is a palace located 15 kilometers northwest of downtown Potsdam, Germany, in the neighborhood, Marquardt.
I took this photograph in the summer of 2024 in Berlin-Staaken on the grounds of Fort Hahneberg. The fort lay dormant for decades in the area of the Heerstrasse border crossing. Fauna and flora were able to spread here unhindered.
On March 3, 2025, I took the picture ‘Sky Lines’ while I was shopping in the old town of Spandau-Berlin. The historic town is situated on a small island. The old town’s history goes as far back as the 13th century. Walking through the old town offers many sights to explore. Begin directly behind Spandau town hall, walk through the Stabholzgarten, and continue to Lindenufer on the Havel. The old town is accessible via several roads from that point.
