From photographer Mike Cullinane: On the morning after Halloween, I took my dog on our daily walk. Sometimes the dog and I range for a few miles, sometimes a short distance. That morning we pushed through, and as we walked the bank of the Raritan River in a neighboring central Jersey town, the trees along the far bank took different shapes as perspectives changed. This day was Samhain (Nov. 1, traditionally the end of the harvest season) when the veil between the living and dead becomes thin. Perhaps that point on the riverbank was a portal or simply a beautiful morning reflection. Either way I’m thankful for many lessons from my predecessors, which include pushing through.
