Karin Hedetniemi captures the serenity of the Alberta, Canada countryside in her images today.
If you take the scenic highway outside Drumheller, Alberta, through the canyons, over eleven old metal bridges, past the rusted railway car and the Last Chance Saloon, down a lonesome gravel road, and turn down a dirt lane to a farmer’s antique shop inside a quonset, you can lean on his fence and bathe in the quiet peace of late summer barley.
I’ve always been drawn to old weathered barns, the way blue sky and swallows stream through open beams and cracks between boards, the way sunlight peels the paint, the way these old structures mark a location in time and space within the endless expanse of a rural landscape. Old barns have stories.

Thank you for this lovely morning walk!
Joyce, I thank you for coming along with me in spirit!
Karin, after vacationing on the Gulf Coast of Florida and observing how the ultra-rich changed the natural landscape in a negative way, your photos of beauty and simplicity have restored my vigor.
What a lovely thing to share with me, thank you so much, Margaret! May places of beauty and simplicity continue to appear for all of us.
