Today we welcome Graham Tobin and his photography. Graham’s photo, “Sagebrush Rookery,” won first place in our photography contest in 2024.
The Beagle Channel, Tierra del Fuego (archipelago at the southernmost tip of South America) is named after the ship on which Charles Darwin sailed. It is a wild, potentially treacherous seascape dominated on either side by rising mountains and deep, glacier-filled valleys. When the seas are calm and in the early morning light, the scenery evokes a romantic notion of those days of wooden sailing ships attempting to round Cape Horn. I was fortunate to be there when the weather cooperated.
Puerto Natales is a small city on the shores of Última Esperanza Sound in southwest Chile. The old wooden jetty leads the eye to the light reflecting off the water and gradually to the mountains in the background while providing a quiet moment for two kayakers.

Beautiful photography.
Lovely photos!
