by Claire Taylor
evening arrives
gently gathering us in the fading
flame of its cupped palms
as we walk a slow loop
through our heartache
day three of his skin
like fire and mine
goose-pricked by the magnolia
breeze, lilac buds
blister on thin branches
and black stones blink
a scatter of tears
across pavement grit and sand
beneath weary
soles
the daffodils trumpet spring
and I hum along
a quiet song of
healing, a soft whisper of
relief

A plethora of emotion and sensations are evoked in Claire Taylor’s words, bringing many connective thoughts, and I appreciate the sentiments so beautifully shared! The photgraph by Robert Sharpe stirs memories that are treasured. However, this morning the blazing horizon in this snapshot also brings photos and news reports of the horrific fires blazing in the LA area of California and I’m saddened for the loss of so many. God bless the residents and all the first responders! Thank you both for sharing your artistry. Trish Dolasinski, EdD
