Welcome photographer Larena Nellies-Cortez who talks about her two photographs below.
Bsharri, Lebanon, February 2024 – One of my favorite poets is the Lebanese poet Khalil Gibran. On a recent trip to Lebanon I spent my birthday pilgrimaging to his birthplace, high up in the mountains. While we arrived to find his former house closed, it still felt poetic to have made our way up the winding streets in the fog and beauty. This photo, taken on the way back down the mountain, commemorates that day and moment.
