This week we feature five photographers whose work was accepted as part of our Spring Photography Contest this year, beginning with work today by Ian Li.
Mt. Pleasant Cemetery is a gorgeous, sprawling cemetery in the heart of Toronto where many visit for a stroll, a jog, or to pay their respects. I find autumn is an especially stunning time to visit the cemetery and arboretum because the fallen leaves alongside the gravestones stir an aching feeling inside me, reminding me of the beautiful transience of life. This particular scene struck me because of the distinct regions of color—vibrant orange meets stunning red meets deep green—and this diverse confluence of trees also seemed to be a subtle nod to the wonderful multiculturalism of Toronto.
