Dear readers,

Happy summer, everyone! Wherever you are as July gets underway today, we hope you can slow down, regroup and have some fun.

On our end, we are closed to all submissions for the summer, as of today. We’ll be catching up on reading what’s come in and wrapping up our second Photography contest. More details on the finalists and winners soon. We thank all the photographers who sent us their work and look forward to hearing from judge and photographer Patricia Joynes on her picks. Stay tuned. We will reopen to all submissions after Labor Day.

In the meantime, we were excited last week to learn that three stories we published in 2023 made the Wigleaf Top 50. In case you missed reading them, we’ve included the links below. Congratulations to Myna Chang, Michelle Ross, and Kathryn Silver-Hajo!

Wish Upon by Myna Chang, (September, 2023)

Pinch Hitter   by Michelle Ross, (September, 2023)

In the Thicket  by Kathryn Silver-Hajo, (May, 2023)

“Pinch Hitter” also was the winner of The Sunlight Press 2023 Flash Fiction Contest. Find more details on our Contests page.

Final note: Happily, we raised our pay rates on June 1, 2024. Find details on our Submit page. If you’d like to donate toward artist honorariums, we’d be thrilled (tax-deductible!). Find those details on our Support page.

We’ll be back in touch soon with photography contest news, and then again with other news come fall. Stay tuned!

Our best,

Warmly,
Beth & Rudri
