The beauty of yellow is on view in today’s flowers. Today’s photographer talks about her images below.
I took both of these photos at Descanso Gardens in Los Angeles County in October 2022. I was captivated by the variation in flora—a different scent with each step. The roses were still in bloom and this one, especially, reminded me of the resilience in nature: droplets of water dancing on petals in an otherwise arid climate.
This next photo, taken at Descanso Gardens the same day, is Brugmansia aurea, a species of flowering plant in the nightshade family. This “golden angel trumpet” appeared to be growing right out of the tree. For me, that was quite magical; it spoke to me of persistence.
