Today we feature two photos by Elizabeth Kuelbs. She describes both below.
On an airboat tour in the ancestral homelands of the Miccosukee people in the Florida Everglades, our Miccosukee captain introduced us to alligators he’d known for decades. This impressive fellow, afloat in the marsh and reflected sky and clouds, gave me a visceral sense of beauty, danger, and deep time all bound together.
My daughters woke me early one morning to watch the sun rise over Miami Beach. I’m glad they did—it was a breathtaking show with gold fire igniting the sky and sea, and the sun, waves, clouds, and gulls all in motion to start up the day.
Beautiful photos Elizabeth!
Thank you so much, Kim!
