Today we feature the photography of Molly Engel whose work last appeared in January at Sunlight. She describes her photo below.
Molly writes: I took this picture at Crater Lake National Park in Oregon in September 2019. My mom and I arrived at the park with the first snow of the season, which lent an almost magical feeling to the place. I was struck by the contrast of snowy evergreens, quintessential imagery of winter, and the bright blue lake water reminding me of warmth and summer. I tried to highlight the contrast by framing the shot with a diagonal line separating water from trees.
hi Molly, great to see your picture of Crater Lake as a recent arrival in Corvallis. I’m from Philadelphia originally too so it’s nice to see the connection. One of these days we’ll get to see this magical place. thanks for inspiring us to get there asap.
Thanks for the comment, Bar! And welcome to Oregon I hope you like it here as much as I have. My mom and I were so totally blown away by Crater Lake, and I know you will be too when you get out there.
