As winter draws to a close, we’re excited to usher in our spring Flash Fiction Contest. Submissions of flash fiction – 1,000 words or less – are welcome starting Monday, March 16. The contest period closes Friday, April 17. Read more in our  submission guidelines. The winning writer will receive $125 plus our regular payment for accepted pieces. Cathy Ulrich, author of Ghosts of You, will guest judge our submissions. We look forward to reading contest submissions!

This month we also are marking two years as a registered nonprofit journal. We welcome your tax-deductible donations which solely support honorariums for our published writers and artists. Thank you for any and all support.

And speaking of our journal, here’s a behind-the-scenes By the Numbers, highlighting our first three years since launching in January 2017 (not included are 2020 numbers or $2,050 spent in 2016 to create our website).

Currently, we seek more submissions of essays, Artists on Craft pieces, and book reviews. For reviews, we generally prefer recently released novels or nonfiction books. Peruse our site for examples in all of these categories. Questions about our upcoming contest or any other matter, please email us at thesunlightpress@gmail.com. Be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter and Instagram. Don’t forget to follow our newsletter to get our posts to your inbox each week.

We wish everyone a happy spring and thank you for reading.
