Today we continue our publication of photography with the work of Victoria Iacchetta. She describes the images below.

Out of Cycle – During my most recent visit to New Orleans’ historic neighborhood the French Quarter, I spent time capturing the “calm” that exists around the noise…and extreme heat. When the smoke of chaos clears, it’s interesting to see what lies untouched and immobile in The City That Care Forgot, the things that are left uncared for.

Longing – In the 20 months I’ve lived down the block from this abandoned store front, I’ve passed by hundreds of times. It evokes a flood of emotions – from nostalgia for an urban past I never had, to extreme wonderment regarding the history of the corner store, its frequenters and loiterers. With just a quick pass-by, each time I’m left longing for the innocence of my childhood self.
