Fall is here and the season is busy for The Sunlight Press as we end one contest and begin another.
During October, we will share our Tech Life themed issue, featuring essays, fiction, and poetry exploring the many ways technology affects our lives. Of the work chosen for publication, one writer will receive a $75.00 award to be announced soon.
Our Flash Fiction Contest started on August 1. Any flash fiction piece submitted by September 30 will be considered and one winner will receive a $100.00 award. We are grateful to an anonymous reader who donated funds for the contest. The Flash contest winner will be announced and published in November. (Both contest winners’ awards are in addition to payment received from The Sunlight Press when the piece is published.)
In addition to our contests, we are thrilled to announce our nominations for Best of Net 2018. Here is the list of our nominees:
Body of Friendship, or Another Piece on Love by Jennifer Fliss
Mimi’s Mattress by David Nilsen
mister lonely by Kara Bachman
A Plague of Light by Charles Brice
Fair Trade by Olga Dugan
Ode to Plum Jam by Yoni Hammer-Kossoy
Shuttle Express by David Mohan
Making Alfredo by Julianne Palumbo

We’d also like to make official our appointment of Clive Collins as our Poetry Editor. He has worked tirelessly behind the scenes, reading, evaluating, and critiquing poetry. Read more about Clive on our Staff page. You’ll find Elizabeth Spencer there as well, our regular Book Reviewer since we launched in 2017. We are grateful and lucky to have them.
As many of you know, earlier this year Sunlight officially became a nonprofit literary journal. We welcome tax-deductible donations to help support writers and artists who contribute to our site. Last week we shared a letter with email subscribers about our 2018 fundraising goal, and we thank those who have responded. Donating is easy; find out how here. No amount is too small and we are deeply grateful for all support.
If interested in reviewing submissions, please let us know; we are seeking more volunteer readers. Please email us at email@example.com if you have questions. Be sure as well to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter and Instagram. Don’t forget to follow our newsletter to get our posts to your inbox each week.
We continue to attract great work and we are steadily building a following with our subscribers and on social media. Thank you to artists and writers for sharing their work and to our loyal readers.
