For The Sunlight Press, June marks the end of one writing contest and the beginning of another. It also marks six months since we launched in January. In that time, we’ve worked with many talented writers, photographers, and artists, and we’re grateful to all for their interest in our journal. We also appreciate our many readers.

Earlier this month on the 15th, our three-month Spring Fiction Contest ended. We are now reviewing the pieces submitted or published from March 15-June 15. Stay tuned. We will announce the winner soon.

Our Summer Nonfiction Contest is now under way and continues through Sept. 15. Any essay submitted or published from June 15-Sept. 15 will be considered. Winners of each contest will receive a $50 award, which is in addition to payment received from The Sunlight Press when the piece is published. We are grateful to an anonymous reader who donated funds for the contest.

If you missed our Editor Q & A with Beyond Your Blog last week, here is the link. We thank Susan Maccarelli for highlighting our journal on her site. We were thrilled to participate.

We’d also like to re-introduce Annamarie Benson, a graduate student in English and theology who joined us as a volunteer intern in May. Annamarie is reviewing submissions, editing, and helping us promote writers’ work on social media. We appreciate her time and talent. Read more about her on our Staff page.

As always, contact us anytime at thesunlightpress@gmail.com. If you have a question about our work, our submission guidelines, or the status of an accepted piece, let us know. Also, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter and Instagram.  If you haven’t done so already, follow our newsletter to get our posts to your inbox each week.

We enjoy hearing from readers and writers alike. Whether you joined us six months ago or last week, welcome to Sunlight. Happy summer!
